Paylink: connected commerce for Australian SMBs.
An Australian payments platform that unifies bills, invoicing, accounts and card acceptance into one mobile-first experience, positioned as a local alternative to global processors.
The challenge.
- Australian small businesses juggle a patchwork of tools for invoicing, receiving payments, reconciling to BAS and paying bills, each with its own fees, logins and export quirks.
- Existing local alternatives felt dated, while global processors did not handle BPAY, PayID or ATO reporting cleanly.
- The founders wanted a single mobile-first app where a café owner could raise an invoice, accept a tap-to-pay card, pay a supplier and see their position, without switching screens.
Our approach.
- Designed a unified ledger in PostgreSQL that treats invoices, bills, transfers and card payments as entries against the same merchant account.
- Built the mobile experience in Flutter with a Flask backend, so iOS and Android ship from one codebase with native performance.
- Integrated card-acceptance rails plus BPAY and PayID for the Australian-specific flows customers expect.
- Layered automatic GST tagging and Xero/MYOB exports so accountants can reconcile without manual re-keying.
The outcome.
- SMBs get paid, pay bills and reconcile from one app instead of four tools.
- Onboarding went from days of paperwork to minutes with KYC and bank linking in-app.
- Local rails (BPAY, PayID, BAS categorisation) make the platform feel native rather than a retrofitted US product.
